Here is my folder of imovie images.
Today went rather smoothly. Finishing up editing and adding credits was a breeze, all until the end when I had no idea that compressing my file in imovie would make everything tiny. I did try it in youtube at full compression, it didnt take that much longer and made it better but still not up to par. I give this a 4.5 out of five because while the program is pretty genius, it had a lot of cliches. I hope you like my movie, I am sorry the words are small. I made it out of love for the art education program and the full service schools and I feel that I could use this movie later so I am sure I will finish what I started in movie maker so that I could show Dr. Cramer. I was proud of my volunteer project and so very proud of the children.

A Blog About Blogging: Blog
Blogging has become an integral part of our social world. We have opened up our worlds voice by way of the internet. For this class I am so glad to have found that google encompasses its own blog, and I can have multiple blogs. I have had some issues with the picture, I do not really like that the html code is how we upload the picture. But i did learn that I can move the html code around the text and it will text wrap.
I do plan on using more blogs in the future. Depending on the school rules I would use a class blog or at the very least a blog amongst my peers. I am in the process of gathering information for a community art blog for Knoxville and it is inspired by this class's use of googles blogger.
This particular blog is my technology blog. I have posted on all ten assignments in which are labeled so that it is easy to decipher. I have not decided if I will keep up with this particular blog and use it to spread the word of new technology that i find. I am more apt to start a blog about art or Knoxville ongoings.
I want to point out the responsibility of a blog to its owner. One, whatever you say will be roaming around in cyber space, perhaps forever. Delete may not actually mean gone. This is very important to also advise your students. Take ownership!
Also, if you are going to make something community based, then make sure it is updated often because people may start to depend on your blog. Then it if its not updated, it is a waste of cyper-space ;)

Keeping it Clean at Sarah Moore Greene: Digital Movie
I started using movie maker while creating my digital movie. I like using it, but I elected to change to imovie since the entire class was using it. However, I was really excited that movie maker was available on my PC, and I plan on using it much more. It is as user friendly as iMovie, and has pretty much all the same features. I am sure there is not a transfer from movie maker to imovie, but I did not get that far.
Today in class I uploaded my pictures, added transitions, and started to add text. I agree with the majority that adding text is frustrating. Imovie seems to have a lot of cliches and at one point I had to close the program and restart to use a feature. However, over all I do like the program and I like uploading the music and watching the clips follow along. I feel that if using this program I would use actual video instead of still frames, but for purposes of this class, it makes a nice presentation. I will definitely use this program or movie maker to make a presentation of works with my students. It is a great way of documenting!
Once I am done, i will post the movie both here and at my website. I am excited to show off my volunteer project in a more professional manner. I have a hard time bragging about my achievements, so this makes it a little easier and fun to watch. I give this assignment 3 Stars.
Also Here are the lyrics to my Imovie music, I wanted to blog a bit about my selection of music. Elvis Perkins, the singer/song writer of "While You Were Sleeping", is the son of a well known actor Anthony Perkins (father) and well known photographer Berry Berenson(mother). His father died of Aids in 1992 and his mother died in the 911 incident in 2001.
This song is about not letting moments pass by.The song references his mother's death. The album "Ash Wednesday" is a chronological sequence of songs written before (tracks 1-6) and after (tracks 7-11) the events of 9/11 including his mother's death. I feel that it fits the story because dealing with time is sacred. Each passing moment means a lifetime. It is easy to take for granted each breath that we take. I feel these children at title-one schools look forward to after school programs and teachers who praise their creativity. It is a beautiful song.
While You Were Sleeping
while you were sleeping
the babies grew
the stars shined and the shadows moved
time flew, the phone rang
there was a silence when the kitchen sang
its songs competed like kids for space
we stared for hours in our maker's face
they gave us picks
said go mine the sun
and go gold and come back when you're done
while you were sleeping
you tossed, you turned
you rolled your eyes as the world burned
the heavens fell, the earth quaked
i thought you must be, but you weren't awake
no, you were sleeping
you ignored the sun
you grew your power garden
for your little ones
and you found brides for them on christmas eve
they hung young cain from the adam trees
and danced
while you were sleeping
i tossed and i turned
til i closed my eyes
but the future burned
through the planet turned a hair gray
as i relived the day
while you were sleeping
the money died
machines were harmless and the earth sighed
through the wind you slept sound
and gravity caught my love around
the ocean rose, sang about decay
while witches flew
and the mermaids stayed
full of dreams, you overslept
and keeping with quiet, through the walls i crept
i walked on tiptoe, sent darkness swirling over all the kitchen in the early morning
i'll never catch up to you
who sleeps so sound
my arms are useless
my heart beats too loud to go to sleep
my mind's too proud to bow out
while you were sleeping
the time changed
all your things were rearranged
your vampire mirrors face to face
they saw forever out into space
and found you dreaming in black and white
while it rained in all the colors of the night
i watched the tvs
memories
championships
vanished to sea
could it be, my honey between you and me
so i waited for the riddled sky
to be solved again by sunrise
and i've made a death suit for life
for my father's ill widowed wife
did you have that strangest dream before you woke
cos in your gown you had the butterfly stroke
did it escape you like some half told joke?
when you reached for your plume of smoke
it'll haunt you, my honey bee
anyone who is anyone has that same dream
were you falling
were you flying
and were you calling out
or were you dying
thank god you're up now
let's stay that way
else there'll be no mornings
and no more days
cos when we're dreaming
our babies grow
the sun shines
and the shadows flow
time flies
the phone rings
there is a silence
and everybody tries to sing
Student Inquiry Based: Lesson Plan
I did enjoy this assignment. I feel that it is important to know how to make a solid lesson plan that students feel is fun and can learn a lot from. Doing research is the best way for a student to familiarize themselves with both the topic and the internet.
I had a hard time with the template of the lesson plan. Next time I will need to highlight the entire page so that the font is not different. It was also hard to de-program from the usual lesson plans that I am use to making in my Art Education classes. However, I know that once I get the hang of this it will be easy as well.
I can see using this as a one time report for the year. In an art class the focus will be on making projects so there will not be a lot of time for extras, but since this can be done as an internet research project, I feel that is something I can actually add to my lesson plans.
I feel that knowing who important artists are and the way they impact their time-line is VERY important. This goes for art time periods as well. I really enjoyed making this a tangible lesson plan so that I can use it later. I give this assignment 3.75 stars out of five!

Icky Wiki: Art Wiki
When I first found out I was going to be doing a wiki page I was really excited. Especially an Art wiki that I could control and that other people would be assisting in updating. However, this adventure turned sour. The wiki itself was pretty easy to use, however, the time and effort I spent in the wiki seemed futile when it was either changed or left undone by the other members.
Setting up the page went great, adding the pictures and content. I learned a lot about linking and annotations. It was depending on the other members to follow the same format, or to even seem interested in making a good wiki, that became frustrating.
Next time I would have members that I know who would treat the wiki seriously. I would love to use this in my classroom or even just among other art teachers. I know that once I am out in the professional world that I will find people who will be able to check their own errors, and make actual contributions to make the page useful and fun. However, for now I did not like this assignment. I give this assignment a 2.5 stars out of five

PPL Uploading Classroom Folder
click on the picture for larger image
We uploaded our classroom folder for our website. Having an e-folio as I mentioned in a previous log is very convenient and helpful to show all that I have been working towards. I knew that we could upload projects, however, I did not know how to zip and upload until this class. This way the file is compressed and ready to load all the contents of the folder in one easy upload. At home as you see here, we do not have winzip, but the conversion of jzip works as well. As I learn more about a Mac, I seem to discover more about my PC.

TEACHING COLORS OF THE WORLD: Website
My teaching website was particularly hard for me only because I am a particular person. I really enjoyed thinking ahead to what my class may want on the site and I know that I could spend hours tweaking here and there to make improvements. The basis of my website is obviously art, but I want to make it more and more user friendly for both parents and students and possible other students. It is hard to gather information about all the local art stores, on goings, events in school, and assignments. So like google, I want to be a one stop shop for all their art needs.
Art has a hard time translating information through out the schools. If I promote my website from day one, then I can have some parents looking at student works in class and participating in more art school events, and art community events.
There are some options I have not tried on the website. It is mostly user friendly, however, where I want to put my pictures or the choice of font styles is lacking. I do keep in mind that it is a FREE site and the options may be limited but still vast.
This project is easily 4.5 stars out of five, because I have always wanted a website and it is exciting that now I know how to set one up and use in my classroom.
I hope you enjoy my website
